I've found my happiness by going open baffle and adding a sub woofer. Took forever to find the sound I wanted but I'm glad I kept trying because it has paid off in the end. If you have good working ears you'll hear the cabinet in your sound, and I didn't like that speaker in a box sound.
Your last sketch is better because it got the horn a little higher, Maybe you can put them on stands...Or just tilt them back slightly so they point more at you.
Using speakers that are made to fill a small venue to fill a small flat Is Overkill at the utmost....That's my kind of thinking.
Any information I share with you was learned from the other generous members of this board, I was a noob just like you a couple of years ago.
Can you post a pic of your OB?

thanks for the input
Regardless of what I?ll do I will finish the drawings of the DIY 612 cab so others can use them for reference if they want to...
I don?t have room for huge sized cabinets in my apartment - and my girl would not be very happy about it - that?s for sure...

Cool! I am using OB on my 6048g's too(with JMarkwart XO). Mine are just regular JELabs type. I have to say that I never heard a better sounding 604's tone-wise than when they are in OB's(YMMV of course). I think the "secret" is the room interaction. Having a small room definitely does not do justice to 604's on OB's.

cradeldorf, I wouldn't call those open baffles, I would call them ginormous to colossal boxes with equally ginormous to colossal ports.

This is why I prefer the 612C baffle for the 604.. The original 612 baffle is better with just a woofer,515,416,etc...
